The Sox have allowed another pair of runs in the seventh, and now trail 15-5. The yield is tied for the second biggest permitted by the club this season. Boston gave up a season-high 17 runs–in a win!–against the Rangers on August 12, and had also allowed 15 runs on three prior occasions this year, most recently on Sept. 6 against the Orioles.

On behalf of the Sox I’d like to aoplogize for not allowing the Yankees to score in the 6th. Obviously this was an oversight. With any luck the Yankees can score in the 9th to cover the 2-touchdown spread. Remember a couple of nights ago when the Sox had a big party for clinching a playoff berth and eliminating the Yankees from the playoffs? Well, guess what Sox. They just eliminated you from winning the division. The Sox scratched everyone from this game except the one guy with a bad hip who could slip and hurt himself. Huh?
