George A. King of the New York Post has an official from another club saying that they hear Yankees reliever Brian Bruney is “going to the Braves.” Bruney had 14 holds and a 3.92 ERA in 44 appearances for the Yankees in 2009.
The Mariners are “in the preliminary stage of negotiations with first baseman Russell Branyan, according to Jon Paul Morosi. Branyan hit 31 homers with 76 RBI while batting .251 in 2009. Morosi also has source saying that “a few” teams have looked at Pittsburgh’s Zach Duke and Paul Maholm, who have been made available by the Pirates.
Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports thinks the Angels may have some potential suiters lined up for a possible Gary Matthews, Jr. trade. The outfielder is owed $23 million over the next two seasons. Brown also notes that the Dodgers have been in contact with Nick Green‘s agent.
Buster Olney says the Rangers have the best chance of trading for Florida reliever Matt Lindstrom.
Though Andy Pettitte turned down a one-year offer from the Yankees, Joel Sherman says it on good authority from an NL executive that the left-hander will remain in pinstripes.
