| Tigers Wanted Ellsbury or Buchholz for Granderson | 12.09.09 at 2:07 am ET |
According to a source familiar with the situation, when talking to the Red Sox about a possible deal for outfielder Curtis Granderson, the Tigers asked for either Clay Buchholz or Jacoby Ellsbury in return. The Sox rejected that proposal. Detroit moved on, and agreed upon a deal Tuesday that would send Granderson to the Yankees, with Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth, Austin Jackson, and Phil Coke going to the Tigers, with the Diamondbacks receiving Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy.
