| Nuggetpalooza: 30 Clubs/30 Nuggets | 06.14.11 at 2:19 pm ET |

Before we get into the 30 clubs, 30 nuggets, here are a couple of additional notes:
* – The Indians beat the Yankees, 1-0, last night at Yankee Stadium, snapping a streak of 193 straight losses by the Tribe when they score fewer than two runs on the road, dating back to 1992. They were within two of the all-time record of 195, set by the Tigers from 1988-2003.
* – By June 1, every team in the majors had a shutout this season. It’s the first time that’s happened since 1992.
Now, on to the nuggets:
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Boston Red Sox -
After leading the majors with a team OPS of .820 in May, the Red Sox offense is again leading the majors in June:
.941 – Red Sox
.847 – Tigers
.827 – White Sox
If the Red Sox’ OPS holds up for the remainder of the month, it would mark the second highest in MLB history (since 1946), trailing only the June by the 2003 Red Sox (.945).
—————————————————————————————————————————–
New York Yankees -
The Yankees allowed triples to coco Crisp and Andy LaRoche of the A’s on May 31, snapping a club record streak of 276 consecutive games without allowing multiple triples.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Tampa Bay Rays -
Wade Davis has induced misses on just 13.5 percent of swings against him this season, on pace to be the lowest ever by the Rays pitcher (min. 1,500 pitches in full season):
13.5% – Wade Davis, 2011
14.0% – Paul Wilson, 2002
14.0% – Albie Lopez, 2001
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Baltimore Orioles -
The Orioles have allowed 19 home runs to opposing cleanup hitters, the most in the majors and more than twice as many as they’ve surrendered to any other spot in the opposing lineup. They’ve been outhomered 19-6 at the #4 spot in the lineup this season.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Toronto Blue Jays -
Blue Jays pitchers have walked the first batter of an inning 71 times this season, far and away the most in the majors:
71 – Blue Jays
58 – Rangers
55 – Red Sox
That’s 11.8 percent of leadoff batters faced that have walked against Toronto, on pace for the highest percentage since they began tracking the stat in 1974:
11.8% – Blue Jays, 2011
11.6% – Rangers, 1986
11.5% – Reds, 1988
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Cleveland Indians -
The Indians are 23-for-44 (.523) with the bases loaded so far this season, giving them a shot at the team record since they began tracking the stat in 1974: .410 by the 1976 Phillies.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Detroit Tigers -
The Tigers have allowed only two home runs in a first inning all season. Over the last three seasons, they’ve allowed 20, 27, and 23 first inning jacks.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Chicago White Sox -
No White Sox batter has gotten a hit on a 3-and-0 pitch in nearly two years, since July 19, 2009 (Jim Thome vs. Baltimore). That’s not only the longest “drought” in the majors, but it’s more than a year longer than any other team. Since Thome’s hit, they’ve put just three 3-and-0 pitches in play: A lineout, flyout, and groundout.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Kansas City Royals -
Royals’ relievers have faced 981 batters this season, the most in the majors:
981 – Royals
961 – Reds
953 – Cubs
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Minnesota Twins -
Minnesota’s June team ERA (2.02), leads the majors so far:
2.02 – Twins
2.38 – Nationals
2.56 – Padres
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Texas Rangers -
Opponents are 5-for-57 (.088) when an at-bat lasts eight or more pitches against CJ Wilson in his career. That includes a 1-for-28 mark since the start of last season.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Los Angeles Angels -
The Angels have only one RBI from a player who was not in the starting lineup this season, tied with the Twins for the fewest in the majors. They had 10 such RBI last year (27th) and 15 the year before (26th).
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Seattle Mariners -
Seattle pitchers have fallen behind 3-and-0 only 103 times this season, the fewest in the AL:
103 – Mariners
115 – Orioles
115 – Rangers
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Oakland Athletics -
The A’s are averaging 2.4 runs in games they’ve lost this season. They are the only team in the majors that has averaged under 3.0 runs in losses in every season since 2003.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Philadelphia Phillies -
The Phillies and Red Sox batteries have allowed only two batters to reach base on a strikeout (dropped third strike) since the start of last season, the fewest in the majors in that span. The Brewers (12) have allowed the most strikeout victims to reach in that time frame.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Florida Marlins -
Javier Vazquez has induced just one GIDP in 55 DP opportunites this season (1.8 percent), the lowest rate in the majors (min. 50 opportunities):
1.8% – Javier Vazquez, FLA
5.2% – Matt Garza, CHC
5.2% – Shaun marcum, MIL
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Atlanta Braves -
In 37 road games this season, the Braves have allowed only 20 home runs, a pace for 44 for the season. That would be the fewest road homers allowed by any team since the Braves allowed just 41 in 1995.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
New York Mets -
The last grand slam by a Mets player on the road was by Ryan Church on September 3, 2008. Since that home run, Mets’ pitchers have allowed 15 grand slams in road games.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Washington Nationals -
The Nationals’ currently have a team ERA of 2.38 in June. This month stands a very good chance of setting the club record for ERA in a single month (since returning to Washington):
2.38 – June, 2011
3.42 – July, 2005
3.47 – August, 2005
3.58 – April, 2011
—————————————————————————————————————————–
St. Louis Cardinals -
The Cardinals allowed four home runs to the Giants on June 2 (three of them to Aubrey Huff), snapping a streak of 234 straight home games (almost three seasons) without allowing more than three jacks. It was their longest such streak since 1993. The club record (502 straight home games) stretched from 1971-1977.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Milwaukee Brewers -
If you were asked which major league team has the best home winning percentage in 2011, would you have guessed the Brewers?
.735 – Brewers (25-9)
.667 – Phillies (24-12)
.625 – Indians (20-12)
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Cincinnati Reds -
Reds’ pitchers have walked or hit 12 batters with the bases loaded this season, the most in the majors:
12 – Reds
11 – Diamondbacks
8 – Blue Jays
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Pittsburgh Pirates -
The Pirates allowed three grand slams at PNC Park in a six week span from May 19 through July 2, 2007. And they haven’t allowed one there since. It’s the longest current streak in the majors of avoiding a grand slam in their home park.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Chicago Cubs -
Cubs pitchers have struck out 15 batters after falling behind 3-and-0 this season, the most in the majors:
15 – Cubs
13 – Astros
13 – Mariners
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Houston Astros -
Pitchers have hit just 11 home runs this year in the major leagues, and the Astros have given up four of them. Since 2000, only seven teams have allowed five or more home runs to opposing pitchers, with the 2000 Padres and 2006 Mets each allowing six, the most in a single season. Houston is the only team that has allowed 5+ pitcher homers twice since 2000 (2001 and 2005).
—————————————————————————————————————————–
San Francisco Giants -
The Giants hit four home runs in their last road game, but they have not hit more than one homer in any of their last 25 home games, their longest such streak in 30 years.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Arizona Diamondbacks -
The Diamondbacks are 11-12 this season when they allow 10 or more hits, the second best such record in the majors (Colorado, 10-9). This after they went a combined 50-150 in such games over the last three seasons.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Colorado Rockies -
The Rockies’ pitching staff has walked the opposing pitcher a major league high nine times so far this season.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
Los Angeles Dodgers -
With two outs and runners in scoring position this season, Chad Billingsley has induced 13 ground balls. Unfortunately for him, six of them have gone for hits (.462 average) and they’ve led to nine runs. During all of last season, only 7-of-31 such grounders went through (.226 average), leading to only five runs.
—————————————————————————————————————————–
San Diego Padres -
Padres catchers have had to throw to first base due on dropped third strikes 23 times this year (out of 463 strikeouts), the most in the majors. Contrast that to the Reds, who’s catchers have had to complete strikeouts by throwing to first just four times (out of 474 strikeouts).
