I’m glad that the red sox didn’t get sucked into this trade because chances are Harden would be right back on the dl and collecting dust for the sox. Some guys are babies when it comes to injuries and harden is one of them. All that being said, Lars Anderson is just taking up space at Pawtucket. This kid is not good at all, has no chance with the sox at 1b, and it would have been nice to see him out of the system so someone else could get a chance. He just hast figured it out and probably never will.

In Theo we trust and he tries to trade for a player who knows the DL doctors more than Major League batters….I’m upset they didn trade for Jimesez before the lonley Indians of all teams traded for him…his salary was very team friendly

If Theo cannot find a spot for Anderson in Boston he owes him the opportunity to try elsewhere. Lars has labored hard and long in the Red Sox vineyards and deserves a shot at a MLB job. In the few at bats he has had in a Red Sox uniform he has shown some promise, all be it, not of an all-star’s caliber. He is a tall rangy guy who seems to know his way around 1st base. Certainly some team can find a spot for him. And who knows, he might develop some strength in the gym and become a more powerful hitter… he still has time.

What do you mean Rich Harden has injury problems? He has for years and years. This is not brand new information. He is injured much more of the time than he pitches. I am amazed that people do not know this. Hello!!!!!!!!

Wow, injury concerns on Rich Harden? With injury concerns for Bucholz already, why would you trade for a guy with a lifelong injury concern? Call the Cubs and get a healthy and playoff proven guy named Matt Garza. He has AL East experience and he is signed for several years. Unload the prospects for a proven commodity. Have Carl Crawfoed make the call. Have the Cubs throw in Marlon Byrd too.

Jimenez cost four prospects. Yeah. He’s affordable. But he’s far from a sure thing. Especially in the AL East. In a high pressure situation. IMO the cost was prohibitive. We all want to get a starter. But at what cost. I thought this was a decent gamble for a rental. But I’m not all broken up over it falling through. Millwood probably has as much of a chance of helping and they have him already in Pawtucket.

I would actually prefer Garza to Jimenez. That would be a solid pickup. I thought Harden was worth the gamble for 2011 with his low salary and 4 of 5 starts showed solid numbers. Obviously, more to the medical records than we all know. If Garza comes, we are set. Don’t even need the bat although the White Sox have a very good one that’s worth a look.

Due dilligence… if the kid’s medical records don’t hold water why risk it? Having seen Harden pitch I know he has good stuff, but he’s been plagued by injuries for four years. Unfortunately that’s what you get when Lars is the only prospect you give up. I am completely comfortable with the Sox looking at other options even at the risk of doing nothing at all.

brisween-Garza would fit right in and we have seen what he can do in the postseason. At the same time the Cubs have a band-aid at first in Pena, and the move makes sense for Lars Anderson as well… interesting thought.
