Lester was horrendous in his previous 2 starts , the entire staff is abysmal, why expect anything different today.

the only time lester and the word ace should be included together is when he applies to ace hardware for a job.

It’s the second inning and I’ve already turned off the game. This team doesn’t have the stones to come back. Is it just me or did that ball look like a pop up off Jeter’s bat? How did that thing get out? All we can hope for is that the Angels and Rays suck as bad as the Sox down the stretch. Though I’m not even sure I want this team to make the post season.

For all you morons calling out Jon Lester and saying he’s not an ace… did it ever occur to you that he’s pitching HURT? His velocity is down, he’s way too young and strong to be tired at this point of the season… do the math. The only healthy and reliable starter the Red Sox have right now is Josh Beckett, and even he’s not pitching as well as he’s capable of right now. Do some more math and you have the reason for this disaster you’re watching on the field. The Angels are the team right now most deserving of a playoff spot, and if the Red Sox don’t start winning soon, they’re going to be that team.

Aceves should have displaced Wakefield in the rotation, but he’s too valuable in the bullpen & it’s too late now to stretch him out.

Tito, you’re beyond ridiculous. Jon Lester, when healthy, can shut down any lineup on any day. His fastest pitch MAY have been 92 mph today, and if you’ve actually watched him pitch, you’d know he hits 94-95 on a regular basis which an occasional tendency to hit 96-97 on the gun. So if he’s not hurt, why has he lost the ability to command his fastball and cutter and lost as much as 5 mph on his fastball? If he sucks so much, why was his first ever start in Yankee stadium a complete game, 5-hit shutout? If he’s such a freaking over rated loser, why has he consistently been among the leaders in strikeouts, WHIP, and ERA? If he’s such a joke, why does he have one of the best winning percentages of all time? Jon Lester beat cancer, came back an even better pitcher, and even pitched a no-hitter. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, you asinine Yankee homer.

troll killer, someone healthy should pitch…bring up some prospects…we need to win not be out there with hurt players ruining our season…8 to 0 in the 4th…u put ur best players out there n hurt players arent ur best players…make some moves, go after pitching instead of finding guys who hit the ball…bad scouting, bad coaching…id rather see all the prospects n pitchers from triple A up here trying at 100% than these guys right now…

Unfortunately, right now there is nothing promising in triple A.

The pressure that is on this team to win right now would just not be fair to place on such young, inexperienced players. You’ve seen what has happened to Weiland–the guy just isn’t ready to pitch in the majors, and he may need some major confidence boosting after what he’s experienced in the majors. This team just isn’t deep enough. If they were out of the race completely, than there’d be no issue with bringing up some rookies, but right now it’s just not a viable option.

Stick a fork in them. They are officially done! How embarrassing to go into NY with your backs against the wall and just lay down.

who cares if its promising or not…the point is u put up ur best chances…not guys who are hurt who are clearly hindering this team…at least see what u got for next year or the year after…u might hit on one of them…teams dont have great scouting reports on them so u never know…look at how awful the sox do against new pitchers they have never seen, well guess what, other teams have the same struggles too…

Oh Yeah I’m sure the Yankees will throw us a few meatball pitches to make the game interesting for the rest of the day because it is on National TV. But Awe…We still lose.

Where does the buck stop Mr. Henry? Are you just going to sit there and watch this season fall apart around you? A serious message has to be sent immediately… Would you let someone in your family drown if you are able to throw him a life preserver? You don’t wait until after the season ends before making your move …You do it now! Your still lucky to have the opportunity. We are the worst team in MLB right now.

I can visualize us being up by one after Tampa Bay wins their two games and we split a doubleheader with the Yankees tomorrow. The only reason for us winning the one game is “if” they lay down for us like they laid down for the Rays in their final game with them. If they don’t lay down your looking at a tie. Then we are all done… we can’t beat a minor league team right now let alone the Orioles. The Yankees will absolutely lay down for the Rays after they clinch home field throughout the playoffs. So your looking at at least two automatic wins by the Rays from this seat in the house.

Does anyone know if there have been team meetings with or without the manager regarding this travesty of a finish to the season. It almost seems like they are all resigned to being horrible. I’d love to see Francona get upset at them when they make bone headed plays like they did in the second inning today, but I fear he is now their buddy and no longer their boss.

Remember that team that was up 3-0 in the alcs only to get beat 4 straight by the redsox, well that just shows that its not over till its over, the redsox are making us all sick right now, but they are not done yet.
