January features several events that offer fans the opportunity to interact with Red Sox players (both big leaguers and prospects) and officials. The coming weekend will be a busy one. Among the coming events:
Jan. 13: An Intimate Evening with Pedro Martinez and Friends. “The evening will include cocktails, dinner, an evening program emceed by Bob Neumeier of Comcast Sports Net, and a question-and-answer session with Red Sox great Pedro Martinez and special guests.” Dinner tickets are $350 each. Jan. 13: PawSox Hot Stove. A free event at McCoy Stadium featuring PawSox manager Arnie Beyeler and several prospects, with likely attendees including Alex Wilson, Luis Exposito, Alex Hassan and Brandon Duckworth. For info, click here.
Jan. 13: Sea Dogs Hot Stove dinner. New Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine was recently added to the list of guests at Double-A Portland’s annual dinner. Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Mariners pitcher Charlie Furbush are also slated to attend, though the event — which benefits the Sea Dogs’ charity, the Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program, is currently sold out. Jan. 14: New Stars for Young Stars. This fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund features top Red Sox prospects and big leaguers. This years attendees include Valentine, Saltalalamacchia, Martinez, Wilson, Ryan Kalish, Kolbrin Vitek, Sean Coyle, Garin Cecchini and Brandon Jacobs. The event, which will benefit the Jimmy Fund and the Pedro Martinez and Brothers Foundation, is sold out this year. For information, click here.
Jan. 14: Hot Stove Cool Music benefit concert. Former Sox GM Theo Epstein and Hall of Fame analyst Peter Gammons help organize this annual show. This year’s event features Susan Tedeschi, The Remains and Derek Trucks, along with annual participants Bill Janovitz and Kay Hanley. Tickets benefit the Foundation to be Named Later, and are available through the FTBNL website.
Jan. 19: Boston Baseball Writers Dinner. The Boston chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America will have its annual awards dinner, with several current and former Red Sox expected to be in attendance. Tickets are $175. For information, click here.
Jan. 30: Hot Stove Cool Music Roundtable. Annually one of the most interesting conversations about baseball. This year’s event will focus on “Small & Big Market Baseball,” featuring Epstein, Sox GM Ben Cherington, Valentine, Pirates GM Neal Huntington and Yankees outfielder Curtis Granderson. Tickets are $125 and available through the Foundation to be Named Later website, with event proceeds benefiting the eponymous organization.
