The Red Sox are conducting an ongoing poll to see who might be the best players ever to man their respective positions for the Sox during Fenway Park’s 100 years. (To do your part by voting, click here.)

Thus far, folks have been able to vote for four positions: first base, catcher, right-handed pitcher and left-handed pitcher. Here are the results to date:

    Nice to see the pinkhats out voting!  Varitek ahead of Fisk?  Wakefield top THREE????  And Youk number 2 eh?  Sigh…

    Even worse is Mo Vaughn at #3 for 1B…seriously?  I realize Buckner’s image is poor for people who don’t know anything about baseball (the guy was tainted by one play…that didn’t even cost the Sox the Series!  It happened in Game 6!) but he was a -FAR- better player than Mo.  And, as much respect as I have for Varitek, I think he’s benefiting quite a bit from sentiment, right now.
