A message from Curt Schilling regarding Fenway Park’s celebration 04.19.12 at 4:32 pm ET
By WEEI

Curt Schilling

To Red Sox Nation,

I apologize that business at 38 Studios has made my participation in the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park impossible. Please understand that should in no way indicate my love and passion for Red Sox Nation. There was no greater feeling than standing on that mound, in that park, in front of you fans. The memories I was honored to be a part of, from David’s walk off HR in the 2004 ALDS, to going 4-0 in World Series games in that park, to the true honor of wearing that uniform every single day is something I am blessed to have, and will never forget.

I was and always have been opinionated, and unafraid to share my opinion, and for that I accept whatever it is you think of me. But please know that when I had the ball in my hand I gave the team, and you, every ounce of everything I had to get a “W.” It was an honor to wear the uniform, and compete with the incredible team and teammates I was allowed to.

Every great memory I have in that uniform is because of the people that paid to watch us play, and I will be forever grateful to you for that.

Thank you and God Bless,

Curt Schilling

  • you have to respect that.

Atleast he is honest about being opinionated. I respect that and the fact you could tell he always left everything out on the mound. Even if you hate him now because he is opinionated you have to respect what he did for the Red Sox when he played.

  • Steve

Fine but 38 Studios is located in PROVIDENCE RHODE ISLAND.

  • Dano50

I always respected his work on the mound.  but he’s full of it when he uses his business as an out.  Please.  He owns the company…I don’t buy this one iota.  Don’t much care though.

  • Scott

    Grammar check???

  • Jaytf1

He’s so full of you know what. He’s lying through his teeth. He dosen’t like Bobby V or the Red Sox for letting Tito go. It’s always about Curt. If he wanted to come , you know he would be there.

  • Source

curtie is a staunch republican, supporting bush….he wanted money from democrat deval , for his toy business, and did not get it.
    hello rhodie island

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/ZVFM2HRNC5CTO2OUXD4XTX65O4 Dennis

      BS!

  • Anthony

This entire year is going to be a big joke, I hate the way they do things

  • Video King

He should make a video so they could watch. Or he could call in like he does everyday.

  • Carl

Come on, Shill.  Get your priorities in order.  We need you there.

Or do you forget that you once mattered?

  • Fenian

they didn’t invite him until a couple of days ago…so his schedule was already booked…not his fault…ownership’s fault…

he talks alot…so what! when the sox were recruiting him he was online chatting with sox fans…and everybody loved that…

having tendon surgery is the BRAVEST thing I have ever seen in sports…and he did it TWICE…without him (and others) we don’t break the curse…just because of that he will always be a great Red Sox to any true fan…the only people posting stupid comments are those that are well…in a word…stupid

  • Sliderule33

    Class. Thank you Curt .

  • Mjc2370

I wouldnt go either for this fraud ownership. Bleep Them . John, Tom and especially Larry you suck

  • Jaytf1

We love him as a pitcher but can’t you separate that. He’s always been so self promoting. And don’t forget he signed a contract for one year for 2008 for 8 milion knowing he was hurt and didn’t play the whole year and retired in the spring. He kept the money of course. He should be there Friday. He’s making it about him as always.

  • PPmicc

Hey Source, why don’t you get some facts! I think he moved his company to Ri because of financial reasons not because he wanted Deval to help fund it! Besides Deval only funds Green Solar Companies that go belly up or he funds neighbors, friends and relatives with cushy state gigs!

  • Jim

Jay… People like you astonish me. I really would like to delve into the mysterry of the deep seeded hatred that so many Boston fans have for Curt Schilling.  When did your seething hatred for him begin?  What was the impedus for it ? Seriously, and be honest, what’s the real reason you despise this man. I’d love to know how the mind of a Schilling hater works. You mention in your post “he doesn’t like Bobby V or the Red Sox for letting Tito go.  This comment begs a few other questions for you: 1) What makes you think Curt dislikes Bobby V when he made it clear he actually LIKES the man personally, he just doesnt think his style will work in Boston. 2) Do you actually LIKE Bobby V?  Is that why you’re bothered by the notion Curt “doesn’t like” him?  3) Do you understand the circumstances surrounding Tito’s departure? 4) Are you aware that the team let highly unflattering stories leak out about Tito at the end of the season last fall, and that seriously damaged the man’s reputation?  5) If you ARE aware of those things, how do YOU feel about an organization that would let such unflattering commentary leak out about a long time successfull employee such as Tito? My point is, I doubt Curt “hates” the Red Sox for a LOT of reasons, but if he DID hate the Red Sox, it would be hard not to blame him if you fully understood the shabby treatment of a manager that’s done more for your team than any Red Sox Manager in modern team history. If Curt hated the organization, he wouldn’t have taken the time to write the above messege to a largely unappreciative “Red Sox Nation.” If he hated the team, or it’s unappreciatve fans such as YOU, he would not have taken to the mound on 2 separate occassions in the 2004 Playoffs after having 6 sutures inserted into his ankle so that he could help the Red Sox bring a championship to the same fans who trash him routinely a few years later. So, that said, I’m curious about your hate for the man.

  • Roberr48

Schill you were a great pitcher/competitor, but you certainly can be annoying, with your constant opinions which seem to be aimed at stirring the pot, but this is a very nice, well put letter to the fans, showing your true Sox colors….thanks, well done….

  • Bakeplus

Curt, thanks for the memories! I still have a Iraq 2008 autographed hat under glass on my mantel where it will remain for all of my days! Thanks for all you did for “the Nation”! Forgiven!

  • Tiredofsox

Don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. Amazing you swore you wanted nothing to do w/the media when you were a player and you end up a money hungry grub like every other former player. No one cares if you don’t show. Maybe you can sell your bloody sock to make a few more dollars for your poor family.

  • not sure i’m a fan right now

Sadly, I agree.  Although, not necessarily a “joke”, but afraid for a really sad year to follow a really sad ending to last year.  It’s just one strange, sad incident after another.  I’ve lost all respect and enthusiasm for the management.  Trying to stay interested in the team and games, but even that is difficult.  Still cannot believe the behavior from last September and right after season ended. So tragic and disgusting.  What a betrayal…really.

  • sev

i agree and to think he would do this because he is loyal to tito is ridiculous because tito himself is going….people need to appreciate what he did for this team and we wouldn’t have won without him, and the same goes for beckett as he pitched as dominant in 07 post season as any pitcher I have ever seen.

  • Dkparis

He has always been a liar.

  • Bhdyer20

How is not going making it about him?

  • Jim

DEAD ON RIGHT FENIAN …. I couldn’t have said it better myself.  The Schilling hatred is quizzical at best… and at worst shows the utter a level of ignorance and shamefull lack of appreciation beyond comprehension.  It is ugly to read these comments about Curt, and downright sad.  It’s bad enough they bad mouth him, but for some reason, some of these troglodites include his family in their hate filled posts.

  • Izzybob

You do realize that your comment is an incomplete sentence and contains redundant punctuation?

  • qtrback12

Dude, please…….I don’t think anyone “hates” your boy shill, but for the love of god his opinions are just to “sell” himself just like that awful D & C radio show, controversy sells …..Did he also forget “what happens in the club house stays in the club house”.  I really think it comes down to class brother.

  • qtrback12

    Remember the “red” sock?

  • Anonymous

Who do you support, loser? That ineligible, America despising, job killing joker that’s in there now?

  • Hesher

    Schill the thrill

  • novak

Curt, i truly believe that without you, 2004 doesnt happen….as a pitcher, you were a gamer, big time…..thank you for bringing back a championship that i never thought i’d see in my lifetime

  • Dachsies2mom

I hate all this negativity.  Personally I LOVE Schill and the contributions he made to my beloved Sox.  If more people spoke up and were “opinionated” whether you agree with their opinions on not, the US would be a better place.  I’m sorry Curt chose not to be at Fenway today.  I think (I hope) it is a decision he will regret.  But he has a right to set his own priorities without criticism.  Thanks for the memories Schill and please don’t ever shut up!

  • Anonymous

I’m not angry with CS, and have no issue with his being upset at the Red Sox ownership/management group. And it doesn’t bother me when he comments on everything under the sun. I actually like it. I’m not in agreement with his politics mostly, but i separate that from his being a ball player. Plus, who cares. I have plent of friends that i dont agree with on politics.

However, his appearance would be for the fans, not for management. If he cared so much about the fans and his teammates, he would make the simple gesture. He could even say, “Look, I’m not pleased with what happened with Tito, but the fans and the people I played with deserve better.”

  • Chris

I know you’d be there if you could. You are more than a little opinionated, and I OFTEN find myself in staunch opposition to your opinions. But, unlike so many other people these days, I have the general common sense  and simple human decency not to let that get in the way of my opinion of you as a person or cause me to lose respect.  If everyone thought the same way the world would be a boring place. I know you’ll be there in spirit!  Good luck with your ventures.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/ZVFM2HRNC5CTO2OUXD4XTX65O4 Dennis

Yeah, and I’m sending a message to Schilling. Can he see it?

  • mmaynard119

For once, Schilling did something gracious and self-sacrificing. Given him credit for that.

  • Jim

A fine, decent, and mature sentiment Chris.  You and a few other posters in here are slowly restoring my faith in the humanity of Boston Sports fans.  Sadly, the kind of fans that crap all over a man for simply having an opinion different than their own while ignoring the legendary things he’s done for the team they love is just mindblowing to me.  Those kinds of fans do not make Boston sports fans look gracious, or smart.  Those kinds of fans simply make Boston look bad, and make Boston look like a place where a lot of players probably wouldn’t want to play.  I know of no other city in America where when the fans suddenly discover one of their own sports star’s political persuation they go from adoring the man, to despising him, and publicly trashing him (and his family) overnight.

  • Soxfansince75

He has plenty of time for ESPN.

  • Chuckg24

Come on, Curt, you have to be kidding.  Thanks for not making it all about you and being bigger than the team.

  • Brianvscalese

I have a problem with the way that the ownership group planned/executed this entire celebration. Everyone who was involved in any part of the last 100 years at Fenway should have been invited to attend, including Theo, Tito, and Dan Duquette (who was responsible for acquiring a good portion of the ’04 World Series team). At this point, it looks an awful lot like the owners used the invitation process as a way of airing their personal vendettas.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J6OAQITRXOXHEXONK2SR4Z6PUE DeVivo

Curt, screw the rest of these negative comments. Thank you for everything you gave us while in a Red Sox uniform. You have every right to have an opinion on what has happened here since you departed, and there are a lot of fans as unhappy as you are with what happened. But, enough of that, I will never forget you walking out on that mound in the 2004 ALCS and pitching with that ankle injury. I was overseas that year, and it was a tough year, but you and that team gave me something to cheer for that month of October. Some fan’s may forget pretty easily what you did for us while in that Red Sox uniform, and what it was like before that team you were apart of changed everything for us, but just know, I never will. So Curt, we will forever be grateful to you for what you did, and thank you.

    -Aaron

And that means nothing. If you are the head of a company, you do understand that you are not ALWAYS at the local office, correct? He could be traveling for business, or have a business meeting in California. You don’t know.. and neither do I, but just because the studios are located in Providence, RI means nothing.

  • Freddy

The answer to your primary question is that Curt Schilling uttered the unforgiveable phrase”Vote Bush”.  Meatheads like Jay doesn’t even know why he’s a democrat, he just knows he’s supposed to hate Republicans.

How many ballplayers refused to play here because of racism in this state?  Yet all of these people who threw rocks at the buses when they went through white neigborhoods consider themselves liberal democrats.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J6OAQITRXOXHEXONK2SR4Z6PUE DeVivo

Thank you! My thoughts exactly. How quickly people forget what this man did for us in 2004.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J6OAQITRXOXHEXONK2SR4Z6PUE DeVivo

FALSE! It was a disagreement with management, he wanted surgery, they wanted him to try to rehab through it. So, he listened to management and tried to rehab through it, which did not work. If he would have had the surgery earlier like he wanted, he would have been able to come back later that year and pitch. So, before you make comments about a man’s character, you may want to get the facts straight.

  • Anguillaman

TRUE, he was certainly one of the best pitchers to wear a Sox uni.

  • Anonymous

I still don’t understand all the anger directed at the guy.  Our country, which I happen to think is pretty great, was built on people having opinions and voicing them.  So he has an opinion and he isn’t afraid to let them fly, who cares?  I am sure everyone on this comment board has opinions and aren’t afraid to toss them out there and I am sure you all have friends who have opinions you don’t always agree with.  So what?  What’s the big deal?  Just because he is a public personality now he can’t have an opinion?  Do you all hate Sean Penn for tossing his opinions out there too?

  • Yesmam67

why would anyone ever trash his family?

  • Yesmam67

    talk about job killing…lol.

  • George Shamis

I like Curt Schilling. Also liked Steve Carlton too. Out/un spoken, competitors, & honest in their beliefs….how can ya beat it?

  • Jim

Tolerance, and Diversity. Two good words. Words that certainly make people LOOK good when USING them. Unfortunatly, these are words are used most frequently by people who don’t LIVE by them. What does this have to do with the above open letter to fans by Curt Schilling you may ask? Everything actually. In Massachuesetts, where Curt finished his long and impressive career, there is a seething hatred for the man by a majority of fans. The fan base in Massachuesetts has become known for that now. Massachuesetts is known for something else as well. Massachuesetts is clearly the home of Liberalism in this country. Home of the Kennedy’s, Dukakis, and Barney Frank. The ONLY state in the country to vote for McGovern. Liberals pride themselves on their embracing the words I opened this post with: Tolerance and Diversity. Notice I said they embrace the “WORDS,” as they apparently don’t embrace the concept of those words. They know those words SOUND good, and that’s because they ARE good. They are words to live by. But liberals DON’T live by those words, and here is just some evidence of that. That said, we come back to Curt Schilling. Curt comes to Boston in large part as a result of the out pouring of affection for him, from a fan base of mostly liberals. Clearly they didn’t know anything about his politics YET. They just knew he won 20 games a year numerous times and could help them finally with a championship. So he comes to Boston as a result of that outpouring of affection, and, admittedly a LOT of money. As a quick aside, I know you liberals don’t like that Curt’s made a lot of money, but just as a reminder, he’s not the only pro athelete who’s made a TON of it.  Plenty of liberal atheletes have accepted massive contracts too. So Curt elates you and accepts a trade to Boston. He does the very funny Dunkin Donuts commercial while you still don’t know he’s a republican, and you just love the man. He has IMMEDIATE, and TREMEMENDOUS success resulting in your beloved Red Sox ending an 86 year “CURSE” … drought on a Championship. He does this by winning 21 games in his very first season in Boston, and then, caps that off in the playoffs with one of the most heroic stories in sports history. An heroic story that is sadly now poked fun at by many Boston “fans.” He agrees to have surgury just prior to game 6 of the ALCS to have six sutures put in his ankle for the sole purpose of being able to pitch in one of the biggest Red Sox Games in the team’s history. Not only does he pitch in that game, but he WINS that game. You people watch him literally bleed for your team on national television, with the constant camera shots of the bloody sock you now poke fun at. The man then has the sutures RE-inserted just a few days later with the same surgury, all so he can do this same thing for your team in the World Series he helps propel you to. Again he pitches stunningly effectively for a guy with 6 sutures in his ankle and just had surgury hours before the game. Three years later he comes back and wins 3 more playoff games for your team thrusting them to a second World Series victory in 3 years. He does this at age 40, when most guys are sitting at home WATCHING the game instead of playing in it. These are stories about a player that in any other city in America I’ve got to believe would long be remembered and respected. But something happened in Boston that prevented that. What was it? What did Curt Schilling do to suddenly go from folk hero, to dreaded demon overnight? He dared to do a few things that no one should do in the Home of Liberalism. First, he campaigned for the “evil” George Bush. Secondly, he became one of those evil Business owners. Thirdly he got a job as an analyst where his JOB is to provide honest, unbias opinions to the viewing public. This is why I opened with the words liberals so frequently use, but don’t live by… “Tolerance and diversity.” Lets be honest, you don’t like Curt Schilling because he has different opinions than you, and you can’t stand that. Simply stated, when you folks speak of the importance of tolerance and diversity, you don’t mean tolerance and diversity of thoughts and ideas and opinions different than your own. No, they need to be shut down. “Shut Up Curt” you say, adding such things as “move away and take your family with you.” You Liberals just want to SOUND good when using those words tolerance and diversity, you don’t actually want to live by them. There is no better evidence of that than your treatment of Curt Schilling. You’re so bothered by the man’s opinions, so offended by them, that you now make fun of the bloody sock. Worse, you disparage the man’s WIFE even, and his family in blog posts. You suggest such things as “the money grubbing pig” should have SOLD the bloody sock. For the record, that “money grubbing pig” threw out in the trash the FIRST bloody sock at Yankee Stadium. That’s how little the man cares about the supposed self promoting you people also complain about. The SECOND bloody sock, from the World Series, he donated to the Hall of Fame. I guess there was a sence that some people OUTSIDE the liberal land of Boston might appreciate a tangible piece of sports history denoting one of the most herioc efforts ever seen on the athletic field. I will always be a fan of every team in Boston, because I grew up there, but I am surely growing to dislike an increasingly spoiled and ignorant fan base there. Don’t want to believe you’re spoiled and ignorant? Read what your fellow fans have to say about Curt Schilling every day.

  • Lynnmau2

We will always appreciate your great performances that helped lead us to a World Series victory. You were an important, if not the most important, part of our team. Sorry you were unable to join us.

  • Jim

I don’t know Yesmam67 to answer your question.  That’s one reason why these comments about Curt are so quizzical if nothing else.  What you will need to do to get an answer to your question is read more of the comments and here regarding Schilling, wait for one that references his wife or his family, and then reply to the ignorant moron that would write such a thing.  I’ve only been checking out commentary in these blogs over the last few weeks, and have bumped into probably a dozen posts where there are references made to Curt’s wife or family  Perhaps they discovered that Curt’s wife or kids are ALSO Republicans and so they hate them now too.

  • Jim

Once again…. damn good points bhdyer20.  I like the Sean Penn anology there at the end.  You picked the perfect person to toss out there for all the Schilling haters.  My bet is their cool with Sean Penn’s comments on anything.  In short, these people are cool with free speech… as long as it’s in line with their own opinions or agenda.

My thinking is…. let the libs have all the freedom to talk all day long, because their own words ussually do far more damage to themselves than the rebuttle of their opposition.  I don’t worry about what libs say because I’m confident their arguments wont stand up when speaking to logical, smart people listening to them.  The only time I care about libs fredom of speech is when it turns into freedom to personally trash people.  However, that’s ussually when you know you’ve won an argument with someone, when they’ve got nothing left but personal insult.

  • Jim

DEAD ON RIGHT DeVivo.  It’s like I just said in a recent post.  Some folks don’t like facts.  They have a reality that they WANT to believe for whatever silly reason, and run with it.  Get ready for the personal insult to come next from whoever it was you were responding to.  Keep on calling out these people.  Their hatred for Schilling is personal, and not rooted in any logical thought process.  You just proved that.

  • Jim

Excellent post Freddy.  Apparently you’ve observed the same thing I’ve observed:  First, this really is about politics, and 2)  No all, but a LOT of Dems strangly don’t really even know WHY they are dems.  They just know mom and dad were dems and how could mom and dad be wrong? ….. OR….   My favorite teacher was a dem … how could he or she be wrong …. so on and so forth.

  • Jim

BINGO …. as I said a moment ago …. people believe what they WANT to believe.  These folks WANT to Believe Curt is a Jerk.  Why ?  Cause he’s a conservative, and they are a liberal.  Keep hitting them with the logic my friend…. but expect the personal insults to start flying at you cause they got nothing else.

  • Jim

Aaron….. AMEN yet AGAIN.  I too will never forget that day.  The Red Sox are the only team in MLB history (less we have forgotten) to come back from a 3 game to zero deficit to win a playoff series, and Curt is a major reason we did so.  As if that isn’t memorable enough, we did this against the dreaded New York Yankees.  We advanced to the World Series while simultaneous STIFFING the Yankees with a distinction they will NEVER be able to live down.  We ended an awful 86 year curse in about the best way possible, and it is in large part due to Curt Schilling.

I defy Schilling haters to come up with a Sports story better than Schilling having two separate surgurys just prior to two back to back playoff games with the sole intent allowing him to pitch in those games.  THEN… with 6 sutures in his ankle, and bleeding, he doesn’t just pitch, but he pitches BRILLIANTLY… he wins those must win games like the legend he is. I too thank you Curt. Further, for all the Sox fans with a BRAIN, I apologize for the fans without a brain who trash you daily.

  • Jim

Soxfansince75….  Newsflash ….. ESPN is his boss my friend.  Should we go to work whenever we want to ????    Don’t like it that he’s Rich ?  Don’t like it his opinions are different than yours ?   Don’t like conservatives ?  Which is it ?

  • Jim

Chuck …. how is it that he’s making this all about him …. just curious.   The first words he writes in his above letter to Red Sox nation are the following:  I apologize that business at 38 Studios has made my participation in the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park impossible.  Did it occur to you that his prime purpose in this letter is to do just that … apologize for not being there.  Where are your facts that support the notion that Curt is insincere about this, and all about himself?  Is it simply you resent he owns a business and is a success in life?  Is it that he’s a republican and you are a Democrat, and Republicans are evil as you have always been taught?   Is it really that simple Chuck?  Did you have some strange desire for the 86 year “curse” to continue on, and resent that Curt helped end it?  What is it Chuck ?

  • Jaytf1

Jim I apologize for being so harsh. I don’t hate Curt or dislike him in anyway as a person. I’m just very angry about him going on ESPN and throwing the manager under the bus before the season started. Believe it or not I was in the minority of keeping Francona. The collapse was not all his fault. Terry lasted 8 years as manager, longer then any Red Sox manager in my lifetime(I’m 54) I’m also very dissapointed he(Schill) couldn’t come to the ceremony. I should think of the good and not the bad as the Big Guy in the Sky tells us. He was a great pitcher for us and gave it his all. He also does a lot of charity for ALS and Autism. And compared to some baseball players he is pretty nice in public and signs autographs. It’s just sometimes the guy can be so self absorbed and think everybody wants his opinion on everything. Oh well, I guess I’ll take the good with the bad.

  • Jaytf1

As the saying goes we should think before we speak. I didn’t. Maybe we should all just think about what players do on the field and not care what they do or say off the field.

  • Pete Godburn

I love you and followed your entire carreer from the minors through all the teams for which you played. It broke my heart when the Sox traded you to Baltimore. I had visions of you and Clemons as the perfect 1-2 starters, and they would have won before 2004.  You sould have been there, no mater what you think of current circumstances.

  • Jim

No problem Jay… as the kids today say … “It’s all good.”   As you can tell from most of my posts I’ve just got very tired of the tons of Hate filled Schilling posts, and sometimes “lose it.”  I’m about the same age as you (53), and am such a Red Sox fan I’ve maintained loyalty to the team even as I’ve moved all over the country.  Durring the course of all those years I’ve never found myself so ashamed of my fellow Boston Sports fans than I’ve found myself to be since the Schilling bashing began.  For the longest while, I’d read these scathing comments and just shake my head in amazement at the way so many Sox fans construe reality.

I was amazed at their crazed takes on not just Schilling, but lots of things. The short memories. The petty stances. The hate… the sheer hate in so many posters. I would read these things, and never write any responses simply because as a grown man I know there are far more important things in life than sports. I don’t enjoy bashing my fellow fans trust me. That’s why I waited so very long to finally do so. The final straw for me was the comments about Schilling’s wife. It was at that point I finally decided I’ll put my writting skills to work.

It’s just sports folks… you (and I don’t mean you personally Jay… this is directed at others) … you people hate Schilling because of his politics…. get over it… appreciate and respect what he did for your team… his 04 playoffs story was legendary… something you might see out of a movie script…. only it REALLY happened… and you all were fortunate enough to see it. Sadly I can see folks in New England 30 years from now telling the story of Schilling’s multiple pre-game surgurys to their Grand Children, and at the end saying …. “but kids … none of that matters… because he was an evil republican.” It’s just sports, forget his politics, and remember we all have a right to our opinion and ability to express it.

As I write this the sox just got done blowing a 9-0 lead to the Bankees to lose 15-9. When I was a kid that would have bothered me for the next week. Today, while I would have rather not witnessed such a pathetic display, I can say to myself … well… they suck… and move on to the next thing. I get the sence that for some fans in Boston (and other cities as well) .. sports is all they have… and take it way too seriously. Thus, when it comes to things outside of sports, they’re not so sharp. I happen to believe the conclussion many folks have on Schilling is an example of flawed thinking.

Schilling was loved in this town. Then he campaigned for George Bush, and now he’s hated. It really is that simple. I happen to think that’s sad, because his political persuation has nothing to do with what he’s done on the field. What he did for the Sox was truely legendary. To a sports fan, that’s all that should matter. I’m sure most folks in here who’ve ever read a post of mine can figure out I’m a conservative. That said, I can assure you that if in the fall of 2004 I had found out Schilling had campaigning for John Kerry, I still would have been forever amazed, gratefull and appreciative for what he did for the Red Sox in that magical post season of 04.

Please don’t think these comments are directed at you, I accept your apology for whatever that’s worth. As I said at the top… I’m cool with your response.

Support your local Legend…. please write something nice about Curt.  Curt, if you ever come in here to read these posts, you already know what I think of you.  Thanks for the memories.  As I’ve said in many posts, you didn’t just help give us a TWO,  VERY LONG waited championships, you gave us an amazing story we can tell our grandkids.  If I ever bump into you in a bar someday, I’d be honored to buy you a beer.

Curt is the man and i will forever respect this guy regardless of his personal life or things he might say while doing his JOB, which sometimes fans forget, his job is to express his opinions on certain subjects…..Anyways ill NEVER forget that 04 ALCS when me and my brother watched the “bloody sock” game in amazement while Curt went out there and pitched with PURE heart. Thank you Schill for everything, And ending that 86 year curse.
