Terry Francona

The Boston chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America announced Friday that former Red Sox manager Terry Francona will be the 2013 recipient of the Judge Emil Fuchs Award for long and meritorious service to baseball.

The award is presented annually in honor of Fuchs, the former owner of the Boston Braves. Past recipients include Ernie Banks, Bob Gibson, Warren Spahn, Marvin Miller, Bud Selig, Jim Rice, Carl Yastrzemski and Dennis Eckersley.

Francona, recently hired to manage the Indians, will receive the award in person at the chapter’s 74th annual dinner on Jan. 24 at the Westin Copley Hotel in downtown Boston. For ticket information about the dinner, check the The Sports Museum website at www.sportsmuseum.org.

Well Deserved to the man that brought us the only World Championships in any of our lifetimes. Great Baseball Man who got a raw deal here in the end. We all should hold him in the highest esteem.

Another class act from the sox. Terry deserves this award and probably a lot of other awards.

I wonder if Snake Lucchino will ever be nominated for this award.

    No more tiny corners thanks.

  • Dee-fense, Dee-fense!

For a late round pick, this guy has too much upside not to consider.

As long as we have 3 deep threats in our receiving corps, and a much stronger pass rush, then fine…

I may be one of the only guys who really likes the Danny for Wes movement. All I hear about is his injuries, which have been freak things he doesn’t have bad knees or a bad back and he’s a bit younger. Coming in after Welker seems to make this kid hungry. Glad he’s jumping in with both feet and working on that ever important QB/WR timing. As always the Patriots will be just fine bit boy what I wouldn’t give to get a real #1 WR to play last few yrs out with Tommy

3 Ryan Swope WR Texas A&M 7 Jake Knott LB Iowa State 7 Spencer Ware RB
    LSU.

Exactly. He will be eaten alive in NFL. He had the advantage of really good LSU defense but moreso an offense that scored points so teams were throwing a ton to keep up or catch up.

  • NEP24

whats upside for 5’9 CB in NFL today with WRs getting bigger and bigger. ONLY the Pats still maintain the mantra of mini-WRs for their starters.

He’s a slot guy, not an outside guy! He most likely won’t be drafted by them anyway, as they just paid Arrington! You are incorrect, he will be a solid slot corner, and return guy!
