| Dustin Pedroia on The Big Show: Punk’d by Andre Ethier | 01.25.12 at 6:14 pm ET |
Dustin Pedroia joined The Big Show for his weekly radio appearance to talk about the Marco Scutaro trade, Julio Iglesias, Nick Punto, Mike Aviles and his beloved San Francisco 49ers.
Yet the visit was particularly noteworthy for another reason, as the second baseman was confronted with a phone call from “Andrew, calling from his car.”
“People keep talking about this Punto and Aviles, I think they should be starting over you, they should be in the middle infield now,” the caller said. “I’ve been watching you play over the years and you ain’t that good.
“They already got rid of Scutaro, they should probably get rid of you, too,” the caller added in his rant.
Pedroia was quick to respond.
“Let me break it down for you, Andrew,” Pedroia, who won Rookie of the Year honors in 2007 and the AL MVP in 2008, responded. “I’ve got a couple of pieces of hardware at my house that says I’m pretty damn good.”
But lost in all the trash talk and back-and-forth banter was a simple truth — Andrew was, in fact, Dodgers All-Star rightfielder Andre Ethier, one of Pedroia’s closest friends. Read the rest of this entry »
| Trade Deadline: ‘Slim’ chance Dodgers trade Andre Ethier | 07.28.11 at 9:32 am ET |
The chances the Dodgers trade outfielder Andre Ethier at the trade deadline are ”very slim” and general manager Ned Colletti “would need to be blown away” by an offer in order to deal Ethier, according to a FoxSports.com report.
Ethier is good friends with Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroia and the Red Sox are reportedly in the market for an outfielder, but the report says that the two teams have not had any serious discussions regarding Ethier.
On the year he is hitting .294 with 10 home runs and 47 RBIs.
| Trade Deadline: Could Andre Ethier’s next stop be Boston? | 07.11.11 at 2:47 pm ET |
According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated, Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier ‘s next team could be Boston. Ethier is in the last year of a two-year, $15.25 million contract, but can’t become a free agent until after the 2012 season.
“He’s got his best buddy Dustin Pedroia telling him how great Boston is,” one of the people close to the situation said. “In Andre’s mind, [the Dodgers situation] is embarrassing. And Boston has a different [vibe] right now.”
During spring training Ethier went on the record saying that this might be his last year playing for the Dodgers.
“It might be my last [year] here with the Dodgers,” he said. “You never know. A lot of signs are pointing that way, so we’ll have to see.”
On the year Ethier is batting .311 with nine home runs and has 44 RBIs.
| Dustin Pedroia on The Laser Show: ‘I don’t pay attention’ to rumors | 11.17.10 at 7:30 pm ET |
Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia joined The Big Show on Wednesday with his weekly Laser Show. Pedroia talked about free agency from his point of view, his health and offseason recovery among other topics, and he took a few questions from callers.
“I’m feeling good,” Pedroia said. “I actually squatted this last week three sets of 10, man, so it’s kind of a big week for me. I’m doing a lot more lifting some weights with my lower body and I’m pretty sore right now, but I’m right on schedule. I feel great.”

What are you up to? What video game are you playing right now?
No, you know what, I’m not really playing anything. I’m talking to you guys, but, you I’ve been just working out and living the dream man. You know what, I change that. I’m actually participating in the dream. A lot of people try to live it, but I’m actually doing something.
How are you feeling? We’ll get all of the health stuff out of the way.
Yeah, let’s get it out of the way. I’m feeling good. I actually squatted this last week three sets of 10, so it’s kind of a big week for me. I’m doing a lot more, lifting some weights with my lower body and I’m pretty sore right now, but, you know, I’m right on schedule. I feel great.
